Expedition Man (August 24)
Northern Nevada’s original iron-distance triathlon race! The Ultra distance triathlon is made up of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a 26.2 mile run.   For more info, click here and for a course map, click here

Expedition Man follows the same format set forth by Ironman and its creators: swim, bike, run.  Triathlon events are growing in popularity every year, and Expedition Man is no different.  In its debut year in 2012, Expedition Man welcomed over 320 athletics from 17 different states and countries, including Washington, DC, Texas, Alaska, and even Australia.  There were also large numbers from Nevada and the neighboring states of California, Arizona, and Utah.  This is an excellent opportunity to train for high altitude triathlon events such as Ironman.

Corporate Relay 70.3 Challenge
In 2013 the Expedition Man Triathlon is offering a corporate challenge category for the ½ Iron Distance Relay of 70.3 miles from Zephyr Cove to Reno.  Promote camaraderie, health, and fun for our businesses, employees, and families.   This is an excellent opportunity to experience a triathlon for fun, even if you're not an IronMan or Woman.

GrandVenture Sports Festival (August 24-25)

Reno Tahoe Gran Fondo (August 25)
The Inaugural Reno Tahoe Gran Fondo is comprised of three separate routes to cater to riders of all abilities. Meaning "Big Ride" in Italian, a Gran Fondo is not a race, but an individual challenge to experience (via bike) some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.  Open to road bikes only, no mountain bikes.

100 Miles:  The Gran Fondo course will start all riders in the south part of Reno, NV. Cyclists will be escorted up and over Mt Rose Highway home to one of the highest summits in the area. This is where the Gran Fondo cyclists will face the largest climb of the day with over 4,000ft in elevation gain! The amazing scenery of North Lake Tahoe is nothing less than breathtaking as you head south along the east side of the lake on Highway 28. Lunch will be served at the area's most scenic and mystic parks, Zephyr Cove resort.  Click here for the route map and elevation chart.

50 Miles: The Medio Fondo route gives cyclists a taste of the Gran Fondo with half the distance. Riders will begin this their journey with one of the most popular training hills in Northern Nevada called Geiger Grade. This historical climb was part of cycling legend Greg LeMond who grew up in Washoe Valley.  The route map and elevation chart can be seen by clicking here.

36 Miles: The Piccolo Fondo route is ideal for beginners and weekend cyclists. This family friendly route follows Old Highway 395 south into one of the most beautiful and peaceful valley between Reno and Carson City - Washoe Valley.  It's a favorite riding spot for any local bikers.  For a map, click here.
