Musician Pharrell Williams guaranteed “A-list internships” to every 2019 graduate of The Promise Academy in Harlem, New York, at the end of their freshman year of college.

Following an allegation of sexual misconduct in January of last year, comedian Aziz Ansari has kept a low profile.  However, Ansari took to Twitter this week to announce his first televised comedy special in more than four years, titled, “Aziz Ansari: Right Now,” will stream on Netflix beginning July 9, with Oscar-winner Spike Jonze as director. His last special, titled, “Aziz Ansari: Live at Madison Square Garden,” was released on Netflix on March 6, 2015.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has extended invitations to 842 new members of the film industry to join them. The invitees include familiar names and also recognize the Academy’s push for better inclusion. Half of the invited members for 2019 are women and 29% of them are people of color. 

Rock musician Rick Springfield canceled his show in the Dominican Republic. After rising safety concerns in the Dominican Republic, where at least 10 American citizens have died while in the country in the last year, the event was cancelled. Although statistics show that Americans are more likely to be killed in the US than in the Dominican, many people are still alarmed.

A show based on singer Neil Diamond and his career is headed to Broadway, with a score by the iconic singer-songwriter and a book by “Bohemian Rhapsody” writer Anthony McCarten.
